SFRC Manhole Covers

SFRC Manhole Covers

Steel Fibre Reinforced Concrete (SFRC) manhole covers combine concrete with dispersed steel fibres for higher tensile strength, impact resistance, and durability. They are a robust alternative to cast iron, with better corrosion resistance and lower theft appeal.

Benefits

  • Strength: Higher load-bearing capacity and crack resistance than plain concrete.
  • Durability: Resistant to cracking, spalling, and degradation; long service life.
  • Corrosion resistance: Suitable for coastal, industrial, and high-moisture areas.
  • Safety: Lighter than cast iron, easier to handle and install.
  • Cost-effective: Less maintenance, fewer replacements, and lower theft risk.

Typical specifications

Available in circular, square, and rectangular shapes. Duty ratings from Light Duty (e.g. 2.5 tonnes) to Extra Heavy Duty (e.g. 35 tonnes). Examples:

  • 450 mm clear opening (18" dia) – MD/HD, frame 685–750 mm, cover 50–90 mm thick
  • 560 mm (22" dia) HD – frame 870 mm, 90 mm cover
  • 600 mm (24" dia) EHD – frame 900 mm, 100 mm cover

Applications

Roads, footpaths, industrial yards, sewerage and drainage networks, and any location requiring durable, safe access covers.
