Concrete Road Barriers
Jersey barriers (also called K-rails or concrete safety barriers) are modular steel-reinforced concrete barriers used to separate traffic lanes, protect work zones, and redirect vehicles. Their sloped design reduces vehicle damage on impact and helps prevent crossover collisions.
Design & specifications
- Height: Commonly 32 inches (81 cm); taller variants (e.g. 42 inches / 110 cm) for higher containment.
- Material: Steel-reinforced poured concrete or precast concrete.
- Shape: Sloped sides so tyres and bumpers ride up on impact, reducing sheet metal damage and aiding vehicle redirection.
- Optional 75 mm (3") vertical reveal at base for neat alignment with road surface.
Applications
- Dividing opposing traffic on highways and dual carriageways
- Work zone and construction site protection
- Pedestrian and worker safety along roads
- Temporary diversion and channelisation
Features
Modular lengths for easy transport and placement; can be painted with yellow/black stripes for visibility; durable and low maintenance; effective in reducing head-on and crossover incidents.
